I have omitted to tell you the number of the last box, but I'm sure a great detective such as yourself will know where to look.
Holmes read the note then passed it to Doctor Watson.
"Most inconvenient," muttered Watson." Now we'll have to open every single safety deposit box to find the last clue."
"Not so, Watson." replied Holmes." I know exactly which box to open. Come along Watson, let's hurry to the Dunwick Bank."
What was the number of the last safety deposit box?
Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson were travelling on the London to Brighton train. They shared a compartment with four other gentlemen. Messrs: ANDREWS, BAKER, CLARK and DAVIS. The four obviously knew each other well and chatted all the way to Brighton. Their occupations were:
STOCK BROKER; BANKER, SHOP OWNER and SOLICITOR (Although not necessarily in that order). From the following information gathered by Holmes can you determine the occupation of each man?
1. Mr Andrews had never played golf.
2. Mr Davis isn't the banker.
3. Mr Clark bought his last set of golf clubs from the stockbroker.
4. Mr Andrews was very friendly with the bank manager.
5. The shop owner and Mr Baker often played golf with the stockbroker.
Holmes, Watson, Lestrade, Moriarty and Mrs Hudson all belonged to the same library. All five were returning books at the same time. The library shelved its books in alphabetical order by title instead of by author.
