About the compiler, Philip Carter:

His first book Take the IQ Challenge was published in 1986 and he has since published over 100 titles both for adults and children, most of these in co-authorship with Ken Russell. He is also the author of several talking books of trivia and a CD-ROM, Brainstorm.

In 1993 in a unique international collaboration he joined forces with a Dutch Author Marcel Feenstra and an Australian author Christopher P. Harding to produce The Ultimate IQ Book which was followed by a sequel The Ultimate IQ Challenge in 1994.

His books have been translated into several languages including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Hungarian and Rumanian.

Some years ago he was the main contributor of puzzles for the BBC2 quiz show All in the Mind.
