2010: The 60th anniversary
Join us in the celebrations and run PEANUTS Classics in your publication!

On October 2, 1950 the PEANUTS comic strip launched in seven US newspapers. Little did anyone know the impact that the brand would have around the world for decades to come.

Nearly 60 years later, the comic strip appears in over 2,200 newspapers, in 75 countries and in 21 languages around the world. PEANUTS animated television specials have become a global seasonal tradition and hundreds of consumer products are available for purchase in virtually all retail departments.

Timing

October 2, 2010 marks PEANUTS' 60th anniversary.

The celebrations will commence Autumn 2009.  We expect an increase in commemorative products, retail partnerships as well as escalated exposure broadcast media.  60 celebrities across a variety of disciplines will be signed up to promote the 60th anniversary of PEANUTS.  PEANUTS Diamond anniversary will culminate in Q4 2010.

The creative elements of the campaign focus on the evolution of the PEANUTS characters during the strip's 50 year run in a "then and now" theme.

For the first time ever, and for a limited time, Vintage PEANUTS artwork will be made available for new sectors.

Why PEANUTS?

PEANUTS is an all-family brand appealing to kids and adults.

In PEANUTS, Charles M. Schulz created a brand that has become an international icon, with numerous milestones in the history of modern popular culture. Charlie Brown kicking the football, Linus and his blanket and Lucy leaning over Schroeder's piano are images to which everyone can relate. Phrases such as "Security Blanket" and "Good Grief" have become a part of the global vernacular.

PEANUTS has universal reach with strong licensing programmes. To name a few:

Hallmark, Gap, H&M and Urban Outfitters.

In 2009, Warner Home Video plans to release four re-mastered, deluxe edition Peanuts specials with all new bonus features and two re-mastered collections of Peanuts specials from the 1960s and 1970s.

Black and white daily cartoon strips or Sunday 3-bank colour strips are available.
