David J. Bodycombe has been creating puzzles and games for nearly ten years.


He has experience in many media


 

 

TELEVISION
David started his media career when he became one of the games designers for
the hit TV show The Crystal Maze, an association that would last for five
years. He also designed virtual reality games for the new high-tech Children's BBC 2 show Sub Zero (February-April 1999), and has recently devised an
Internet quiz format for K-Club (BBC Knowledge).


RADIO
David has been the researcher and question setter for the BBC Radio 4
treasure hunt game X Marks the Spot for two series. He has also appeared
several times as a guest on the BBC Radio 4 problem-solving discussion show,
Puzzle Panel.

 

BOOKS
He has also written, illustrated and edited several best-selling puzzle
books, including:
1996: The Mammoth Book of Brainstorming Puzzles
1997: The Mammoth Puzzle Carnival
1998: Lateral Puzzles
1998: Optical Illusions and Picture Puzzles
1999: Codes & Ciphers
He is currently acting as a contributing editor for a major new puzzle book
for an international publisher.


PRESS
David writes two puzzle columns - a daily syndicated column called 'The
Think Tank' (began: July 1999), and a weekly column for The Daily Express
(began: March 2000). His puzzles have also appeared in The Daily Telegraph,
Mensa Magazine and various puzzle magazines.


OTHER
In the 1999 Mind Sports Olympiad, he won a gold medal in the World Creative
Thinking Championship. He is also a member of Mensa. David is a mathematics
graduate from Durham University. He is single and lives in
Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey.
